Welcome to Awbury

A private road leads all visitors to the main entrance of the Awbury campus. This is the busy site of morning arrival and dismissal.

The Awbury campus was built on a former brownfield and opened in 2014.

Lobby

All students, families, and visitors are welcomed at the front desk upon entering the building.

The two-story light-filled lobby is a hub of activity during the schoolday.

Cafeteria

Wissahickon students eat healthy meals at round tables. Students rotate serving as Table Captains to help serve and clean up.

The cafeteria is an extension of the classroom, as students learn where their food comes from and how food production impacts the Earth.

Gymnasium

The Gym is host to PE class, basketball practices and games, wrestling practice and meets, community meetings, and more.

Every student participates in Physical Education class each week. The goal of class is to promote health and movement.

Classrooms

Each classroom is unique, with spaces for students to learn, play, and create, independently and in groups.

Each classroom is large enough to accommodate desk or table space and a large rug for morning meeting.

Library Media Center

The Library Media Center boasts a growing print and digital collection that are easily accessible through an online catalog.

Students come to the Library weekly for lessons and to check out books.

The Commons

The Commons is a flexible space designed with our Middle School students in mind.

The mural depicted was designed and installed as part of Awbury's visual arts program with support from the Public Citizens for Children and Youth.
