Before becoming CEO in 2007, Kristi Littell was a founding teacher of Wissahickon Charter School and served as the school's first Environmental Educator as well as the school's first Grant Writer. She was the architect of the school's environmental program - developing, implementing, and mentoring faculty in the interdisciplinary, hands-on, environmental approach that has become the hallmark of Wissahickon Charter's curriculum.  Through her work in development, she was able to secure major grants including a Growing Greener Grant to convert a large portion of the school's parking lot into a stormwater catchment garden, as well as an Energy Harvest grant to provide solar panels on the school's roof.

Kristi’s passion for urban ecology was sparked during her prior five-year stint as the Education Director for the Wagner Free Institute of Science, a Philadelphia Victorian natural history museum and national historic landmark, that offers free programming to children and adults in the natural sciences. In both of these positions, her work has been informed by a deeply held commitment to exposing urban children to the wonders of the earth and the belief that all children deserve a quality education. As CEO, Ms. Littell's work centers largely on academic oversight, administrative supervision, development, strategic planning, budget oversight, and working with the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders to reach the institution's long-term goals. Ms. Littell holds a B.A. from Haverford College where she graduated in 1994 and has done Masters work at Arcadia University. She lives in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia with her husband and two children.
