85% of our parents say that an education at Wissahickon affects how their child views the earth. We believe that a child’s curiosity in nature is a catalyst for learning. Our environmental education program includes participation in an environmentally-themed interdisciplinary class, service-learning projects, and trips through our Outdoor Program.
Arts and Extracurriculars
We believe that all students deserve the opportunity for self-expression and to explore interests outside of the traditional instructional curriculum. Our robust art program offers students the chance to learn foundational skills, to develop artistic perspectives and questions, and to express their personal voices. In addition to the arts, we are committed to providing students with a choice of activities, such as yoga, running club, cooking classes, step team, music classes, and a variety of sports.
Behavioral and Emotional Support
Wissahickon utilizes a range of tools to support our students' behavioral and emotional needs. Students learn peace and conflict resolution as a core part of the curriculum. The environment is warm and loving. Alongside our teachers, a Guidance Counselor and a Dean of Culture promote a positive school culture at each site. Our Behavioral Support Team develop consistent relationships with our students.
Library and Media Centers
Wissahickon students benefit from a well-stocked library where they can check out materials on their reading level, explore a variety of genres, and learn how to conduct research. They are also supported by a full-time Library/Media Specialist.
